Maria Montessori believed that if we just listen, we can learn so much from the children… Promise is in their hands.
At last year’s Sixth Year commencement, one graduating student, Evan, shared these words with us. How important they are today and every day. If you are a parent thinking about having your child join our community of learners, read what Evan tells us about his experience. Enjoy.
From Evan….
I have been going to Bridgeview Montessori since first grade, which is 6 years by now, and Bridgeview has always been so welcoming to me. Every day, when I get out of my car, I see the happy faces of all the students and teachers waiting to welcome me. We all seem equally close to one another so no one gets left out of anything. The whole Bridgeview community is like a family to me. Everyone just gets along so well.
On my first day of Bridgeview in first grade, one of the first things I did was sit in my cubby and cry and cry. I remember that classmates at different times would come over to me and help comfort me even though I did not know them. After that day and that experience, I absolutely knew that this was the right choice of a school for me. After that day, I was still nervous, but when I became extra nervous, everyone would help to calm me down.
A few new people come to this school each year, and I can see that they feel the same way that I did in first grade, and I see all the current students respectfully walk over to the new students and give them a nice welcome.
The school has given me an opportunity to learn in a way that I see fit for myself. Bridgeview has taught me all that I know from how to respectfully say “hello” to the algebraic formula to finding out the value of pi. I have take many things from this schoool and will carry everything I know to all of the schools I will go to in the future, to all the people I will meet, and to the job I will be doing. I respect everyone who goes to this school, and they respect everyone as well.
To all of the students and faculty who are lucky enough to have Bridgeview in their lives, I just want to say:
Thank you for all that you have done for me. I will remember this school and all of the people who work here or go to school here for many years to come. I know I will see some if not all of you sometime soon and from the bottom of my heart, thank you so much.’
