From our Head of school during the Covid-19 essensial Learning experience
April 30, 2020
Dear Bridgeview Montessori Families,
We are six weeks into this still unbelievable time. We have worked very hard to meet our initial goals:
To provide students with opportunities to explore, discover and learn
To keep our learning community close and connected
With great determination we will continue to adjust, invent, and enhance our distant teaching. Thank you so much to those who filled out our parent survey. You have helped us to see what we are doing just right, and where we can fine-tune. Starting next week you should begin to see some of your ideas come to fruition. For example many of our students have enjoyed 1:1 lessons with teachers, but we would like to move toward small group lessons where students have more opportunities to interact with one another as they learn.
We at Bridgeview Montessori have decided to extend our 2019-2020 school year from June 4 to June 19. This will give our community a block of six more weeks to continue teaching, learning and connecting. We also want to find ways to acknowledge some of our end of school traditions: Kindergarten Celebration, Sixth Grade Graduation, Celebration of Art, and Move Up Visits.
I believe our extraordinary community is ready for this challenge. If we work together, we can keep our small school special and chugging along. Mostly let's remember to be gentle with ourselves. Challenge is hard, especially when we cannot be sure of the end result. However, it can also be exciting and yes, even humorous. So while we are working hard, let's remember to have a good time.
Please remember to reach out to me if you have any concerns, question or you if you just want to say 'hi'. I am here to hear.
Resolutely Yours.
Sandy
Head of School
